Gratitude and Joy………….Day 4

The last 2 days have been hard for many. I always say, “It’s going to be what it’s gonna be and there’s not much we can do about it.” In this case, we have done our part, we VOTED. We can’t let it control our lives or keep us from getting a good nights sleep. Like a friend just told me, “No matter who you voted for, we can have varying opinions and still be friends”. This is the mentality that we all need to have. In times of trouble and fear, we need to turn to prayer and peace, not hatred and war.

“Freedom, in any case, is only possible by constantly struggling for it.” -Albert Einstein

As the week progressed, I am again thankful for several things. I am thankful for the right to vote, the right for freedom of speech and for those that have served our country and fought for our freedoms. I am also thankful for the beautiful sunsets that our Lord creates for us. The other evening as I was leaving Beach, the sky was so incredible. My photo doesn’t do it justice. The variety of colors in the sky were amazing!

Sunset when I was leaving Beach the other evening…….BEAUTIFUL!!!

Over the past 9 months, COVID has brought on a whole new meaning to “normal” for all of us. Events being cancelled or postponed (mostly cancelled), kids learning virtually and parents working from home. These are just a few. We were blessed that Harley and Taylor’s 5th and 6th grade basketball season went off without a hitch. The girls played all 6 games and we were able to attend all 6 games. Now, we are facing a different situation. Harley and her classmates were asked to move up and play 7th grade basketball. I hope that we will be able to attend her games, but most of all, I just hope and pray that the kids get to play the games. I’m ok if I have to watch from Facebook. It’s not ideal and I would much rather be there in person cheering the girls on, but we will deal with it and survive either way. We are thankful that we get to go watch her play the first game tomorrow night. We have told our girls all fall, “Go play the game like it’s the last one that you’ll get to play this year. Do your best and play your hardest”.

Be thankful for what you have and for those that you have in your life. Until next time.

Trish
