Gratitude and Joy………….Day 3
Today I’m thankful for a several things……..
First of all, I’m extremely thankful to be able to raise our own beef in a healthy, natural way. I can speak from personal experience that we, as ranchers, sometimes take having beef (and really any kind of meat) in the freezer for granted. We just assume that when we go to the freezer that there will be steaks, roasts and ground beef at our disposal. Night before last was definitely one of those nights. We went to the freezer to get 2 packages of ground beef to make something for supper and wouldn’t you just know it, they were the last 2 packages. Yikes!!!! I don’t like that feeling of not having ground beef in the freezer. I don’t know about you, but it’s a staple around our house. Yesterday, the freezer was refilled and boy was I happy to see that.
The second thing this evening that I’m grateful for is two beautiful girls that are willing to pitch in and help. Taylor has been at home from school the past 10 days because she was a close contact to someone who tested positive for COVID. She gets her schoolwork done each day and then helps out around the ranch. She has helped her dad and I feed cattle, pick eggs, wash eggs, do laundry, wash dishes and cook supper. She told me tonight, “Mom, I’m not a very good cook!”. I told her “You’re only 10. You have plenty of years to hone your cooking skills.” So, tonight we did a simple lesson on pan fried hamburgers. She loves using my Tupperware patty maker, so she started with that. Next thing was to season the patties. We love “Carnivore Rub” on just about everything at our house (recipe below). She seasoned the patties and got the pan warmed up. She fried the hamburgers and did a great job of it. I was pretty proud of her.
There are so many things to be grateful for. These are a few more of mine. Until next time.
